Larry is the latest in a long line of Downing Street catsown unofficially as Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office.

In one day, Larry went from a stray to Chief Mouser, but will he be around for long? According to the London Evening Standard, Downing Street staff have been asked to hold fundraisers to pay for the upkeep of Larry the cat. In an email to No 10 employees, permanent secretary Sir Jeremy Heywood told them: “We will be holding an event soon to raise money for Larry’s care. Please look out for that date.”  The new claw and order supremo got off to a slow start, however. His kill rate on his first night in charge of counter-rodent security was zero.
