Hello, Larry only made it for two seasons (1979-1980). McLean Stevenson played Larry Alder, the divorced, father-of-two, radio talk show host who moved to Portland, Oregon. The theme song and title had more of a lasting impression than any of the episodes. For the entire 5th grade, while walking in the hallway, I never received one “Hi Larry” or “Hey Larry” - it was always, “Hello Larry,” followed by a chuckle or a few verses from the show’s theme song. Check out the opening theme song here.

I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry (2007) – I, for one, have yet to see this movie. How can the name Chuck receive top billing over Larry? CHUCK? CHUCK? Change the title and then I will see the movie.

Larry Dallas came to us from the TV show Three’s Company. Larry is described as “a womanizing neighbor and used car salesman.” He becomes Jack’s best friend.” Of course. Why wouldn’t Jack want to be best friends with someone like that?

Now, why, you ask, is Peter Griffin from Family Guy on The Larry Blog? Every time I watch the show, I thought that Peter is such a “Larry”. Well, actually he is, or was, a Larry. Before Seth MacFarlane created Family Guy in 1995, he created a show called The Life of Larry. According to Wikipedia: “The Life of Larry is very similar in format to Family Guy. Peter’s character was largely based on Larry, and Steve, his dog, would be the main inspiration behind Brian. MacFarlane based Peter’s voice, which was identical to Larry’s, on the voice of a security guard he once overheard talking while attending the Rhode Island School of Design”. Just as I suspected, Peter Griffin is a Peter living in a Larry body.
Still don’t believe it? Well here is the first and only episode of The Life of Larry:

In the office episode The Search, (Original Air Date Feb. 3rd, 2011) Michael Scott, played by Steve Carell, is wandering the streets of Scranton, out of money and very hungry, stops by Larry’s Char-Broiled Hot Dog Stand. According to the sign, they offer Chili Dog and Much More including Hamburgers, Chicken, Steak and Kebobs. The logo appears to be a hot dog with eyes, and feet with the name Larry written down the hot dog’s leg. He has buns for arms with Chili Dog written on one of the buns that appears to be filled with chili. Here is an excerpt from the conversation Michael has with an employee of the hot dog stand (I assume it is with the owner, Larry) after he asks for a free hot dog.
.
.
Larry: I can’t just go givin’ away hot dogs.
Michael: Ok. What do you do with the hot dogs that you don’t sell?
Larry: Throw ‘em away.
Michael: Well ok instead of throwing them all away later why don’t you throw one away now….into my mouth.
Larry: No
Michael: Ok. You’ve just lost my business.
Does Larry give the guy a break? Of course not.

Can Larry pull a fast one on his wife in this DiGiorno Pizza Commercial? If he could, they wouldn’t have named him Larry.
