The Real Larry Page is dedicated to actual people named Larry who continue to enhance the name’s reputation.
Yogi Berra, pictured left, was born Lawrence Peter Berra and went by the name Larry, until he didn’t. According to the official Yogi Berra website, here is how he got his nickname:
Yogi got his “nickname” from Bobby Hofman, a childhood friend. While watching a movie about an Indian snake charmer, Bobby noted that Yogi had a striking resemblance to the Hindu man, saying “That yogi walks like Lawdie (Larry) Berra,” and the name stuck.
That’s right, the man who once said “He hits from both sides of the plate. He’s amphibious.” chose the name Yogi over Larry. Need I say more?

Below is a video of General Larry Platt of American Idol fame performing his hit, “Pants on the Ground”. Unfortunately, Larry was disqualified from the competition because he was too old (62). Many stars have covered the song, including Jimmy Fallon, Brett Favre and Al Roker, to name a few. Mr. Plat, or should I say General Plat, to me you are one real Larry.
